Kentucky IFTA (Fuel) Permit

A temporary Kentucky IFTA fuel permit is a short-term authorization that allows motor carriers to legally operate a qualified vehicle in Kentucky without having a permanent IFTA license.
Kentucky IFTA (Fuel) Permit

Required if your vehicle:

  • Travels in two or more states or Canadian provinces, AND
  • Is not registered permanently in IFTA program
  • Meets any of the following:
    • Has a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 lbs (11,797 kg)
    • Has 3 or more axles (regardless of weight)
    • Is used in a combined weight setup (truck + trailer) over 26,000 lbs
