The KYU permit is an credential issued by Kentucky for vehicles that:
- Operate in Kentucky but are NOT based in Kentucky
- Have a combined weight of 60,000 pounds or more
- Travel in Kentucky even if just passing through
It is part of Kentucky’s weight-distance tax system (similar to Oregon’s mileage tax concept, but simpler).
